Last night I wore out my feet with some swing dancing at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park premiere of
Nellie McKay & the Aristocrats Swing Band. Nellie is an endearing performer with a range of talents and lit up Lincoln Center with the premiere of her swing band. The crowd was at least as interesting with a range of swing dancers pounding the floor like an army and after a few cocktails it became hypnotic. Nellie covered a number of swing classics such as "Route 66" and Ellington's "Take the A train" along with some jazzed up renditions of her own material. It was a quintessential New York night that will not soon be forgotten and it's part of a series of summer swing concerts at
Lincoln Center.
